It’s time to change consulting

October 30th, 2008  |  Published in Web 2.0, social media  |  2 Comments

So here it is - my little dream has come one step further.  What is that dream?  To see every business engaging their customers online.  The catalysts?  Small businesses.

I’ll be real and say that there are a LOT of social media consultants out there.  Some of them are very good at what they do.  Some will simply create you an account on every social network and hope for the best - no real strategy, there.  Far too many will charge an arm and a leg, and that’s where I want to stand out.

Do you run a small business?  I want you to get it.  I want to help you understand the medium and how you can use it not only to speak, but most importantly, listen.  I’ll work with your budget - your budget won’t work around me.  That’s how strongly I feel about this.  That’s the passion I have for social media.

I want this to succeed.  I want this knowledge to become so commonplace that social media consultants don’t even exist anymore.  socialust will either adapt to serve a new purpose or die, and honestly, that’s fine with me.  It’s time to stop scolding businesses for “not getting it”.  Start making “it” more available.

You can find socialust at http://socialust.org. :) Wish me luck.

Awesome. If you haven't already, ready Clay Shirky's "Here Comes Everybody". It discusses early on, how "professional" positions become everyday skills (think scribes from 14th/15th centuries)

Thanks! I'll definitely check that out. :) I definitely think that's where we're headed, but sooner rather than later.
